OPZuid Project

Simurghy was awarded a European grant in light of the OPZuid 2021-2027 program. This page details project goals and publications.

High Fidelity Simulator

The project is a collaboration between Simurghy, GDO and the Maastricht University Medical Center -all based in Limurg, the southernmost province of the Netherlands- focuses on developing a state-of-the-art simulation platform for the training of cardiovascular surgeons.
The platform offers a high-fidelity experience that allows for realistic exercise on artificial organs and personalized structures of the heart and large vessels 3D printed from patient-specific data.
The project aims to validate in a medical training environment a prototype simulator that can mimic a range of heart diseases, supported by robust software and realistic haptic feedback.
With the ambition to eventually reach Technology Readiness Level 8, the project culminates in the development of a pre-commercial zero series with a low carbon footprint, while preparations are made for a successful market introduction under the protection of the intellectual property rights.
