The Simurghlator platform was invented by cardiothoracic surgeon Peyman Sardari Nia, MD, PhD at Maastricht University Medical Center (MUMC+). EMTRAC (European Medical Training Center), an educational foundation of MUMC+, established MA-TRAC B.V. to commercialize the educational use of the SURT simulator (which was its name at the time).
MA-TRAC B.V. was privatized to expand its educational programs through external partnerships.
Although its development was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, MA-TRAC was relaunched under the new name Simurghy, with a focus on advancing services, processes, and technologies aligned with the Smart Surgery concept.
With the support of private investments and a European grant, Simurghy opened its headquarters, training center, R&D hub, and 3D-printing facility. It rapidly scaled up to become a leading simulation company in the field of cardiac surgery.
